TYPES OF TREATMENTS & BENEFITS
FEATHER EYEBROW MICROBLADING
Eyebrow Microblading or AKA Eyebrow Feathering, has gained a lot of recognition and interest in recent years as the popular eyebrow tattoo trend. This technique involves drawing each individual hair stroke onto the client’s eyebrows until the desired fullness and shape is achieved. Two treatments are usually needed within 4-8 weeks apart. With most procedures, the colour looks dramatically lighter after the first week. At the second treatment, we will assess the colour retention and make adjustments as necessary to ensure colour lock in and longer lasting results. The results are amazing, and so natural looking that it is very hard to notice if any sort of procedure has been done. With the use of a manual tool, Alexia is able to achieve the most feather-light, hairlike lines to mimic the client’s own brow hair by implanting colour pigment in the upper layers of skin (Epidermis) by means of tiny, sterile needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes. This ensures perfect and natural looking eyebrows. Choosing this technique will give you control over the appearance of your brows, allowing a flawless and realistic looking result.
Microblading is the latest and modern technique of eyebrow tattoo which replaces the outdated, unrealistic looking "block tattoo". Furthermore, eyebrow feathering rules out any concern about mechanical errors; usual mistakes made while working with a machine. It is also known as the least painful technique, another reason to why it is in such demand!
A ‘powder’ eyebrow, a recent popular technique, is created by combining the base with hair strokes then lightly shading over the top to create a 3D effect of a ‘powdered’ look. For those who want their eyebrows to stand out in their shape you can choose if you would like the natural hair strokes or the "3D Powder + Microblading". Alexia can discuss both options with you when she has a chance to assess your brows at a consultation.

Many clients come to Alexia because of existing eyebrow problems. Some have been over plucked or perhaps too thin or gappy. Or maybe you they have faded brows and scars where the hair has not grown back. Some clients are just tired of pencilling eyebrow shapes every day. Health conditions or age may reduce natural brow growth. If you have bald patches on your brows, then Alexia can help them look naturally fuller. Some women just want to have a more clearly defined eyebrow shape.
GETTING THE PERFECT SHAPE AND COLOUR
Tattoo eyebrows save you time while adding definition and character to your face. Each of us have an unique face shape, skin tone and brow colour. Alexia takes her time to ensure you have the best eyebrow shape to compliment your face as well as working with your skin tone. Each client will be measured and the shape will be drawn prior to commencing procedure.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The colours are hypoallergenic and 100% FREE from heavy medals, iron oxide and tetrazine and are non carcinogenic.
The colour can be much darker when first completed. After 7 days healing, between 40-70% of the colour will be lost. This is normal and often a follow up touchup appointment is required 4-8 weeks after initial procedure to top up colour and complete the treatment. This will ensure longer lasting pigment within the skin.
Colour implants are semi permanent, but on the other hand it may never go away. It's life expectancy is generally within 12 months however it can last longer for some skin types. Annual top ups or colour boosts are required to maintain your tattoo, it is difficult to predict exactly how long the semi permanent makeup will last as it depends greatly on the client's skin type, aftercare, sun exposure, medical condition and lifestyle. Some hold colour better than others and breaks it down at different rates.
Topical anaesthetic is used for semi permanent makeup. It is a numbing cream, often Lignocaine based, applied to the surface of the skin or mucus membrane with a spatula half hour before procedure to minimise any pain or discomfort. Alexia also uses a second numbing cream during the treatment.
Alexia spends a lot of time correcting work done by previous technicians. If you are not 100% satisfied with your existing treatment(s), feel free to email her and make a time for a face to face consultation. She will be delighted to offer her best recommendation moving forward with your corrective treatment plan.

What is the healing like?
Unlike eyebrows, the skin is completely different in the lip area. It is delicate compared to a membrane full of blood. So when it is tattooed the pigments still get deposited into the lip. You will start to see crusting of the lips from day 3 and application of ointment is a must to protect the lips but also for comfort. Once all the shedding is complete, it will look completely faded with no colour. This is normal. The cells that are in the area at this time to heal the lips are actually milky white in colour and are there to protect the lips. They tend to sit on top of the deposited pigment. Over the course of three weeks to three months you will see then gradual defining of your lip colour. Full settlement of colour is not complete until three months. So make sure you book your lips three months prior to your event or occasion.
For those with fillers please try to have your lips done before fillers. If you already have fillers and would like the lip tattoo done please ensure that the fillers are settled.
Eyeliner tattoo is a great treatment to define the eyes. It is applied around the contours of the eyes with a digital machine to enhance the individual's lash line and create depth and definition. FAQ’s for feather stroke / microblading procedure
Please Note: Clients with previous cosmetic tattoo will require a face-to-face consultation, not a virtual consultation prior to having the procedure done. All factors must be assessed before determining your treatment plan or if you are fit for having cosmetic treatments performed.
Q - Does it hurt?
A - For most people it is not a problem. For others it can be a little uncomfortable depending on the individual’s pain threshold. However numbing creams are applied prior to treatment and continued throughout to keep any discomfort to a minimum. We never rush a client through but ensure adequate time is given for maximum pain relief. Many clients are very surprised at how little discomfort they experience. Some compare the pain to a wax or tweezing.
Q -Does the colour stay the same after initial treatment? How long does microbladed eyebrows take to heal?
A -Treated area will be darker and intense when first treated. Healing, which consists of scaling and peeling can take up to 2 weeks maximum. The skin will take 5-10 days to return to normal. It is normal to loose 1/3 of the colour during this initial period. Once healed, always use a sunscreen on the area to prevent colour change and loss. You will be provided with a printed aftercare instruction sheet at the time of your appointment. After care instructions should be followed to ensure that eyebrows have healed accordingly. If the aftercare instructions are not followed there is a much higher chance that the procedure area will not heal properly and you won't achieve desired results.
Q - How long does microbladed eyebrows last?
A- Microblading is considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, they will fade over time and typically last between 6 months to up to 2 years. Can vary depending on skin type, exposure to sun, after care, medical condition and reaction. Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any necessary changes.
Q - How long does the procedure take?
A - It takes around 2 hours depending on skin type and nature of eyebrows.
Q - Do I need a consultation first?
A - (Optional) Consult is not required to book for Microblading as it will be included with full appointment, but available for clients wanting more information and to meet their technician prior to booking in for treatment. However, If you have had previous cosmetic tattoo then a face-to-face consultation is essential. Virtual consultation (photos) are not sufficient as all factors must be assessed before determining your treatment plan or if you are fit for having cosmetic treatments performed.
Q - Can I choose the colour?
A - There are a range of ink colours to choose from to suit all clients skin colour and eyebrow hair colour. We can also help you with choosing the right shade to suit your preference.
Q - What ink do you use?
A - We use the best ink available on the market and especially formulated for micro-blading. It is tartazine free and contains no heavy metals. It is also vegan friendly and not tested on any animals.
Q- When is it a right time to do my touch up?
A - Touch up’s should be done minimum 4-8 weeks post the initial treatment. This allows time for eyebrows to heal fully before perfecting them for the second time. It is very important that clients prioritise their touch up just as much as their initial treatment as this can affect obtaining the best results possible.
Q - When would I need to get an another touch up/colour boost?
A - It all depends on how well your skin absorbs the ink, and/or fades. This is determined by a number of factors which comes into play such as exposure to sun, laser and other beauty tratments, certain medications, skin type etc. We can advise if another touch up is needed but eyebrows would have to be assessed. For clients who have oily skin and/or suffers from vascular skin condiditions such as rosacea, participate in activities that involve swimming in chlorine water or constant exposure to the sun, a touch up every six months would be advised. Avoid peroxide and sunlight, including tanning beds. These can damage your new look. Also do not use any products that contain Retin-A, Glycol, or Alpha-Hydroxy Acids on the treated areas which may cause fading or pigment discoloration. Exfoliation treatments such as microdermabrasion or chemical peels will also damage your new look.
Q - Should I wax my eyebrows before getting them feathered/microbladed?
A - Yes, we recommend tidying and reshaping your brows prior to the treatment. Make sure it is done 2-3 days prior to your appointment. Let us know and we will book you in.
Q - Can I do this procedure whilst pregnant or breast feeding?
A - No, we don’t recommend getting your eyebrows feathered or having any cosmetic tattoo treatment whilst pregnant. If breastfeeding you must express the following 3 or 4 feeds post treatment and dispose of them.
Q - Is Semi-Permanent Makeup Safe?
A - Yes, the strictest hygiene and infection control measures and sterilisation standards are followed.
Pre-packed, sterile needles are used only once per client/per session and disposed safely in a needle disposable container. All materials used per client are disposable. We regard your safety and ours the outmost important!
